I'm sick and tired of this thread specifically saying that you can't run GW on a Mac... Sure. :|

How about trying CrossOver Games, which costs money (more money than free, less money than buying Windows to run Parallels with), $80 to be exact? It works like a charm. I have an iMac and you can't even tell that I have a Mac if I showed you screenshots. They look the same, the lag is minimal and there is nothing wrong with the game itself. I installed it and it works fine with minimal graphic problems. You can get a free download of it here.

It is legal, as well and it is made by an established company with a proven record of making things like this work on a Mac. Rather than pout and flame about how Macs suck because they can't play GW, go try it and then tell me that I or Macs suck...

with crossover games, GW (and every game out there) will invariably run worse on a mac than a windows machine with the same hardware.

therefore... macs suck for gaming.

The thread you just linked to mentions you can use Crossover Games. And it does it... in like every other post. Or you can just use wine, which is free and the same thing. And I agree with Moriz, mac gaming is a joke. The only reason GW works is because its 3 years old and was made to be runnable on 10 year old hardware.

That thread you mentioned was started in 2006. Things change - even as the thread progresses. Not too many people say you can't run GW on a Mac any more - especially on the newer Intel based Macs (except, maybe Moriz

One major thing to note though, is that there is a difference between running on a "Mac" and running under "OS X". Running GW on a a new Intel based Mac is as easy as simply installing WinXP (or Vista) on the Mac. This can be done with or without also installing OS X. (If you don't install OS X though, the Mac basically becomes just another brand of PC). In this scenario GW runs as well (give or take) on a Mac as it does on any equivalent PC (provided you get a mouse that actually has more than one lousy button on it.

Running GW under OS X is a different story. It usually involves some sort of emulator or OS switcher. performance usually suffers relative to a similar PC, but that doesn't mean it has to suck. It may still be able to run 60fps with lots of goodies, which is all that matters.

come on now, i've never said it CAN'T run on a mac, i'm just saying that it will run WORSE (which if you use crossover/wine, it most definitely would).
